Desert Park 20th Birthday Fun Run/Walk - 25 March

6.30am start with 2/4Km option. Registration required.


Desert Park 20th Birthday Open Day - 9 April

Free Park entry all day. Talks and activities throughout the day. Kids' activity zone with face painting and science area. Food stalls. Celebrate with the cutting of the Birthday cake. Wrap up the day with late afternoon enterainment from Ted Egan AO and local bands.

Desert Explorer Program - 11, 12 and 13 April

Program for children 8-12 years to spend a day behind the scenes of a working zoo and botanical garden. Fees apply. Download Desert Explorer Program flyer.

Easter Bilby - 14 to 17 April

Special bilby presentations and activities to celebrate Australia's love with the Easter Bilby.  Fees apply. Download Easter Bilby flyer.

Anzac Day - Aussie Diggers  - 25 April

Special talks to celebrate Aussie digger. Fees apply.


NAIDOC Week - Our language matters - 2 to 9 July

People of the Desert:  A display exploring the stories of the Central Australian desert. Free entry to gallery.  Open daily Sunday 2 – Sunday 9 July.

NAIDOC Week Highlights:  Explore the Arrernte language of Central Australia with talks and activities held daily at 11am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm. Entry fees apply. Download the NAIDOC Week flyer


Picnic in the Park - 7 August

Pack a picnic or enjoy lunch specials from the Cafe to celebrate Picnic Day.


Wildflower Walk - 3 and 10 September

Red Centre Bird Festival - 20 to 24 September

Celebrate the birdlife of the Red Centre with field trips, guest spearkers, tag-along tours and art exhibitions around Alice Springs.
