MARCH- OCTOBER
Tadpoles and Joeys Club
9am – 10am on every Saturday from 1 March to 31 October 2016
Explore the plants, animals and people of Central Australia with fun, games & craft for 3 to 12 year olds. Activities free once entered the Desert Park. Parent/Guardian supervision required. Remember if you are a NT local purchase a Territorian Pass and receive 12 months unlimited entry. Download the Tadpoles and Joeys Club flyer .

Desert Explorer Program 13 and 20 July 2016

Program for children 8-12 years to spend a day behind the scenes of a working zoo and botanical garden. Fees apply. Read more

Red Centre Bird Festival 17 - 21 August 2016

Splendid colours and irrepressible antics are just some of what is in store. Birds inspire so many people – from those who like to head out bush replenishing their souls, to those inspired and moved by art, culture and photography. Read more

Threatened Species Spectacular 3 & 4 September 2016

As the nation celebrates National Threatened Species Day on 7 September, Alice Springs Desert Park will also celebrate with a weekend of activities. Discover and learn the stories about the threatened species.

Parrtjima – A Festival in Light
Friday, 23 September – Sunday, 2 October 2016

Alice Springs, the hub of the Red Centre, will be aglow this September as Parrtjima – A Festival In Light comes to life under the night sky. The first authentic Indigenous light festival of its kind in the world and Australia’s biggest-ever light show installation, Parrtjima – A Festival in Light will illuminate more than 2.5km of the majestic MacDonnell Ranges.

Running over 10 nights from 23 September to 2 October 2016, the free event will feature three distinct installations of original, contemporary and traditional art by local Aboriginal artists, students and the community, using light and sound.

When the desert comes alive with the beautiful textures, shapes and colours of our wonderful wildflowers. Take part in special talks and activities.
