Friends Of The Park
About the Friends
The Friends of the Alice Springs Desert Park (Friends) are a group of people who volunteer some of their time in support of the Desert Park. At present, anyone who purchases a Territorian Pass can become involved.
The Friends assist the Park in many ways including seed collection, management of the many Park functions, fund raising, and animal observation.
Friends are particularly active in fund raising to provide equipment and programs that are normally outside the Park’s reach. In the last five years the Friends have raised sufficient funding for 30 microscopes that are used by schools in the education room and for post graduate studies of seed banks.
Calendar of Events
Look out for Friends of the Desert Park events in 2010 ranging from live musical performances at the Nature Theatre to a fun filled community carnival to launch the opening of the new courtyard. Make sure you have a Territorian Pass to receive emails on these exciting events!

Annual General Meeting
You are invited to the AGM Wednesday 17 February 2010 7.00 pm, Exhibition Centre Theatre, Alice Springs Desert Park. Elections will be held for the committee, including for the positions of Deputy Chairperson and Secretary. There are details on a proposed change to the Constitution below.

Constitution
The Friends are an incorporated association operating under a constitution (pdf 96Kb), which is available for download. There is a proposal to modify the Constitution at the AGM on February 17. The proposed change in bold is:
24. CONSTITUTION OF THE COMMITTEE
(ii) no less than three and no more than six ordinary members,
This modification allows the committee to be increased by three ordinary members, thus increasing the scope of skills available to the committee in its support of the Desert Park.

Critter Watchers Needed!
If you have a few hours a week to volunteer at the Alice Springs Desert Park, then we need you! Critter watchers are needed to help record the behaviour of critters at the park.
